@godsmack1985 piano is harder to learn. you have both hand moving with completely different patterns. other stringed instrunments are way easier to learn and get good at. How hard is it to hold down strings and play them?

Great discussion on the violin versus other instruments. I play the mandolin, the plucked version of the violin and piano. Since I already knew the fingering, I tried to learn violin. Wow! Although I played the notes and pitches correctly, I could not get the bow thing. Foreign! And, after just one stroke of the bow, my cats learned that when I picked up the violin to practice, it was time to disappear. They both ran for cover under the bed as far from the horrifying sound as they could get! :)

@godsmack1985 Violin must be extremely hard to learn though. Especially if you're only used to guitar. I've tried to play the violin a couple of times.. Not good. Not good at all! I can hardly get a sound out of it! Not to mention the horrible pitch!

piano is easer to learn the baics because all of the notes are layed out, and is thus very linear whereas the guitar, violin etc. are harder to learn the basics because of their overlaping notes and hitting piano keys is more natural than pressing down strings (but stringed instruments tend to be easier to pick up, if you forgot your spinach) I personaly prefer stringed instruments because i have devoted more time to them, but to each his own.

The jury, initially split 6-6, eventually aquitted Thorpe though his political career was finished by the scandal. Thorpe was defended by the late George Carman.
