AVP= obnoxious pile of lame filmmaking, it's a result of Fox milking two "dead" franchises. IMO Ridley Scott's "Alien" and James Cameron's "Aliens" are far better than Alien 3, Alien: resurrection, Predator, Predator 2, AVP and AVP:requiem combined and multiplied a thousand. Yeah, basically I only like the first two Alien movies, the third one, I'll admit, had potential but failed because of Fox harassing David Fincher's production. Sigourney Weaver is, however, as always awesomely amazing :)

I actually liked 3 waaaay better then Resurrection. It was a flawed movie for sure but i appreciate it more now then when it first came out. Plus it was pretty much doomed from the beginning, when Fincher came on board he was saddled with a mess of a movie that still didn't have a complete script and studio execs riding his ass every step of the way. Turned out pretty good considering i think. An i agree about AVP2. Way better then the first but still wasn't great.

Ripley but that's always annoyed me, Cameron spent a movie building up these characters and Ripleys relationship with them and then boom, they're dead. Like i said, i still love the movie but it's got a few things i don't like whereas the first two i can't think of anything that stands out. Again, just my opinion though. Still a great movie.

I enjoy the movie a lot, almost as much as the other two but there's just a few things i don't like about it. I don't think there's as many strong characters as the first, aside from Charles Dutton and Charles Dance none of the others really stand out that much. I also found it sorta wierd that in the other movies the chestburster gestates and emerges within a day and in 3 it takes waaay longer. An i've never been a fan of them killing off Hicks and Newt. I suspect you mean they're scarier / more exciting - which is true, but since Alien 3's thing is to (tonally) depress the audience - not to scare or excite - it's an invalid comparison. In actuality, Alien 3 is AS GOOD as its predecessors, just in a different way (its acting, sets, creature and score are perhaps the series' best).

Aside from "the bitch is back" tagline (shudder) this is a really underrated movie. Not as good as the first two but Fincher did the best he could coming on to a movie already in trouble an without a script. Not to mention studio jack-assery the entire time. I saw Alien, Aliens and one other I don't remember the title of because I just caught a peek at my folks but I don't think I saw this one, actually. I was thinking about finding a copy of it and watching it. So, I don't know if this is the one I saw parts of but if it is, I didn't like the one I saw.
