Hi Dan, The salt cuts down on the acid that coffee contains, no big deal if you don't use it. I worked at a restaurant back in the early 60's and I was taught how to make coffee. That restaurant always had the best coffee in town, they used those huge coffee urnes. Thanks for stopping by for coffee. Bill

Thanks for this! I love a good cup and to tell you the truth the coffee I like best is my fathers coffee. I don't know how he does it but it's great and it turns out the same every time. I guess it's because the younger generation doesn't know what a good cup of coffee is and the older generation does! I will definitely try your tips.
